A large global energy company

The company was struggling with implementing the new lease accounting standard due to limited availability of internal resources and lack of subject matter expertise. Management chose to engage Pine Hill because of our technical accounting experience, robust tool kit, and overall practical approach/methodology. In addition to assisting with implementation, we provided an end-to-end solution that included updating internal policies and procedures, internal controls, and related financial reporting to comply with the new standard. The company now has compliant SEC filings for the standard and continues to reach out to Pine Hill for ongoing technical accounting advice.

A public company that owns and operates subsidiaries in various industries

The company needed to staff and operate its finance function including CFO, Controller, SEC Reporting team, Treasury, and Internal Controls roles. Pine Hill provided a complete interim financial management solution, as well as technical accounting and financial reporting assistance, lease accounting and revenue recognition standard implementation, SOX compliance, valuation, and transaction accounting support. A publicly traded master limited partnership and leading wholesale distributor

This seven-year client relationship started when Pine Hill worked with one of the company’s acquisition targets to help them restate their financials and prepare for their IPO. Upon a successful offering, we were engaged to assist with recurring financial reporting needs, put proper internal controls in place/SOX compliance, and provide due diligence, transaction accounting and integration support for several acquisitions. Post-acquisition we were engaged by the current parent company to provide integrated accounting and transaction advisory services in support of its growth by acquisition strategy. Despite several changes in ownership, Pine Hill continues to be the company's preferred accounting and transaction advisory provider.

A leading global private investment firm with approximately $10 billion assets under management focused on private equity and debt investments in the middle market

Pine Hill was referred to the CFO of a private equity client’s portfolio company to provide technical accounting, valuation and financial reporting services. We were subsequently engaged to help the CFO execute on the portco’s acquisition strategy and provided buy-side due financial and tax due diligence services on 26 acquisitions. Impressed with the quality of our financial and tax due diligence services, our private equity client referred us to 12 additional portfolio companies which led to Pine Hill providing financial and tax due diligence services on 50 additional acquisitions and counting.

A limited partnership in the cemetery and funeral home business

The audit committee engaged Pine Hill to look at the internal control structure and accounting and financial reporting implications of various transactions in connection with a financial restatement - related to new revenue recognition guidance under ASC 606 - for which the company was under SEC investigation. The company CAO had resigned, a new CEO just came on board and the company needed to bring in technical accounting expertise. Pine Hill assisted with properly implementing significant internal control improvements, ASC 606, lease accounting under ASC 842, goodwill impairment analysis, debt, 10-Ks, and 10-Qs which has allowed the client to significantly improve financial processes and quality of its financial reporting.

A public health information company

Implementing the new accounting standards for revenue recognition and leases proved to be too difficult and time consuming for the company to handle on their own. The number of leases and contracts with customers were significant and the company was looking for an advisor with the project management experience they required to drive successful implementation of both accounting standards. In addition to ensuring that the company was in compliance with the new SEC rules, they wanted to improve operations and reduce risk. Pine Hill assisted with improving internal processes, internal controls and related financial reporting which helped transform their finance function.
